Other Opportunities to assist nonprofit leaders with Social Media:
Learning:
Participants considered how nonprofits are using Social Media tools to enhance marketing, fundraising, outreach to stakeholders, and service delivery.
The day confirmed a few things about South Florida's nonprofit executives:
- By now, we are sold on the potential of Social Media. The response to Haiti’s earthquake that rolled through Social Media channels across the world was enough to convince the most stubborn "hold-outs" among us.
- We’re living a dual Social Media existence: Experimenting with tools in our personal lives, yet only scratching the surface of what could be done within our organizations.
- We may have missed the point. We’ve over-delegated Social Media strategizing to interns, volunteers, and staff that have more time or are more tech-savvy. Still, it’s not too late to get connected.
- Sometimes we forget what we already know. Technology is only part of Social Media. We can’t lose sight of what we know makes communications successful: We have what it takes to know our target audience, define the right message, and choose the best communication vehicle (Social Media tools or other).
