- Implement capacity-building projects during and after Miami NICE
- Consultants provide one-on-one assistance throughout Miami NICE project implementation
- Low-cost strategies developed during Miami NICE can be implemented after the initiative

Annually, Miami NICE allocates a total of $200,000 in Sub-Award Grants to local FBCOs. The grant application process is only open to TA Award recipients that completed all aspects of their TA Awards. Grants will be awarded through a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Individual grants will be based on the merits of each proposal.
In 2009-2010, it is anticipated that at least 20, and up to 25 (all), of the 2009-2010 TA Award recipients will go on to access Sub-Award Grants to support implementation of their capacity-building projects. The size of each 2009 grant will vary, but the maximum grant amount is expected to be $10,000.
Prior to the RFP process, TA Award Recipients would have explored multiple capacity-building strategies. Each would have conceptualized multiple projects and strategies for building organizational capacity. This includes projects that will require grant funding to implement, and projects that can be implemented without grant funding. Whether or not grant funding is awarded, TA Award recipients will continue to access guidance and technical expertise from an assigned organizational development consultant (Success Partner) to implement their capacity-building project.

In cases where specialized expertise is needed beyond the scope of expertise of their Success Partner, TA Award recipients may apply to access additional consultants. Organizations that received a Miami NICE grant may utilize grant dollars to purchase additional consulting and other items (as per their approved grant budgets).
Building upon the timeline for the TA Awards, key dates related to the RFP process (and Sub-Award Grants) are:
